Reporter: Also in Doctor Who but better known for her role in Good Omens, the series which promotes inclusivity, it was Maggie Service's first Comic Con.

Maggie: I've just had this lovely mom, who whose children aren't here today, but are non-binary and trans and - it's going to make me cry again - but they've just, you know, they've said that the character gives them a place to be.

we were, y'know, 18 and he was maybe almost 20, or maybe just turned 20. my first thought was....it was just an immediate connection, i don't know how to describe it. it was like when you meet a girl and you fall in love, and you're just like, i wanna see this person. it was just as ambitious. it was so hard to find someone, to connect with someone like that. every single person i'd played music with, it was always kind of like...pulling, and not... no one wanted to dream with, or imagine it, y'know, and he was someone who was so talented and...i just loved the way he thought.

Having a popular fanfic as an adult is such a full circle moment for me cause when I was 13 or 14 I had another fic that got over 400,000 reads on watt pad in another fandom so this is genuinely so amazing for me 😭

Temporarily waiving the fee for rushed commissions! If you need some art, and soon, I can do up to two characters/subjects in 2 weeks for the base price, no additional fees. Possibly faster if need be, just ask. There will be fees in place for drawings of 3+ characters/subjects, but they will be reduced!

I'm also still accepting cheap video/audio editing work, captioning, and transcription work! Here's my editing reel. I unfortunately don't have many caption or transcription examples I'm allowed to share, but I do all the captioning for my own videos, transcribed professionally for over a year, and as a hobby for 3 years. My rates depend on a few factors, but are about $1 USD per minute. Prices negotiable as always<3 (The economy is a nightmare and I understand that /lighthearted)

albert: oh, sure! i mean, our apartment was like a dumbbell, so it was like, (holds up left hand) my bedroom here, (draws a line across the table) kitchen, hallway, (holds up right hand) his bedroom here, right? so like- and our doors were always- we weren’t like, a closed-door roommates, y'know? i feel like they were… they- they rarely closed, it would be a big, it would be like, “why is it closed?”

scott: (laughing) “something’s wrong. what’s going on?”

albert: “are you okay? can i come in there? yeah, i’ll come in there immediately!”

I have a question about your tags if that's cool! You were a captioner for phone calls, I've been thinking about doing this. Did you like it? If you're comfortable responding what was your official job title? I've been coming up empty-handed searching for work like this in canada, but maybe i'm searching wrong?

hi! i had mixed feelings on it lol a lot of the bad stuff was more w the company itself like micromanaging issues and stuff

this might be more info than u wanted but here we go lol:

the way we captioned the phone calls was mostly through voice recognition plus some macros on the screen/keyboard and occasional typing

later a newer version of the software was implemented that would auto-generate the captions and we would just correct them as they came up on the screen

they assured us that this wouldn't be replacing us but then laid off literal thousands of employees lol

the pay was also not great it started at 11 dollars an hour iirc but at least hourly and not by the minute

most of the conversations were p mundane but sometimes you'd have to caption some pretty messed up stuff from like a lot of truly vile racist bs and on occasion someone actively threatening to harm themselves/others. we weren't allowed to do anything/report anything

my job title was captioning assistant

also i tried looking up caption phone calls in canada and from what i saw it looks like captioned telephone services aren't currently available in canada? here's an article on it (there's also a link to a petition to bring captioned telephone services to canada)

i did find this tho it's not phone calls and you'd need to be/get CART certified if u aren't already but the pay is typically wayyy better and less likely to replaced by ai
